Does Dwyane Wade fit into the Signature Shoe Model for Jordan Brand?
At one time, being chosen by a brand to have a signature line was the ultimate sign of accomplishment. Some of the greatest Hall of Famers didn’t hear of such a thing, but when Michael Jordan signed a deal with Nike in 1984, the game of signature sneaker forever changed. Instantly every brand was reaching to their top athletes to create a product that was co-labeled with a trusted logo and a marquee name. Basketball was THE sport footwear companies were after and getting a face to represent your logo was mandatory to make it in the competitive market. Adidas, Converse, Reebok, New Balance, Avia, LA Gear, and even KSwiss got their name into the NBA and NBA player’s names on their shoes.
While some brands had their chosen one, players names began to become ubiquitous with the products they wore. For years, Charles Barkley played in the same Air Force basketball shoes many other players wore, but on the streets, they were known simply as the Barkleys. Slowly Nike added his jersey number to the shoes on heel tabs, added “CB” to the end of the product name, before eventually giving Sir Charles a full fledged line of products named after him.

Nike Air Trainer II “Tecmo Bo”
Nike is paying major respect this summer to Bo Jackson with the re-release of many of the sneakers he wore through the years of training for his many sports. ?True, he only played professionally in baseball and football, but Bo knew no boundaries.
This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the famous Bo Knows campaign. ?One of the shoes brought out to celebrate Bo Jackson is the Nike Trainer II. ?Though we have seen this silhouette return to Nike SB, this is the first non-SB release of the shoe since it was first introduced in 1989. ?For the re-release, Nike is employing a creative concept of bringing the shoes back in Los Angeles Raiders colors (Bo played in LA, not Oakland) with a pixelized logo of Bo on the tongue from the classic video game Tecmo Bowl.
Look for the Nike Air Trainer II “Tecmo Bo’s” to release next month for $100.

And 1 first hit the scene in 1993, but a memorable performance by Vince Carter in the 2000 NBA All Star Slam Dunk Competition forever changed a brand, and a shoe. ?On the macro scale, few knew about the brand, and even fewer knew the name of the shoes VC was wearing, but after winning the Dunk Contest, the And 1 Tai Chi was “that shoe.”
Leading up to the 10th anniversary of Vince Carter’s Slam Dunk performance, And 1 is launching a nine month campaign to reintroduce the Tai Chi and its successor, the Tai Chi TGR. ?On November 1st, the Tai Chi will come in the exact white/red colorway that was worn by VC for only $70 ($5 less than the 1999 retail price). ?Soon to follow will be a special edition Tai Chi Mid limited to the tune of 212 pairs leading up to the release of the new And 1 Tai Chi TGR All Star Weekend on 2.14.10.
It has been a long time coming for this shoe to make its way back, but at last it will return.

Vans 46 CA Low Fall 2009 Lineup
In June, Vans released a two-sneaker pack of the 46 CA Hi model which featured a red colorway and a black colorway. Now, photos of the Vans 46 CA Low Fall 2009 lineup have surfaced and are now available at Flauge.
The low-cut sneaker will come in three colorways for the fall including turquoise, green and yellow. All three pairs feature a tonal base combined with a white vulcanized rubber sole. The latest hybrid from Jordan, the Jordan 60+, has started to arrive at retailers like Vault in Harlem.
The Air Jordan 60+ combines the Air Jordan I, the Air Jordan II, the Air Jordan V and the Air Jordan VII. Each of the shoes that Michael scored 60 or more points in throughout his career. So far the silhouette has received a pretty mixed reaction from sneakerheads.

Nike Air Structure Triax Premium Black/Brown-Purple
Last month, we showed you a rare, unmatched colorway of the Nike Air Structure Triax, and many of you stated that you really loved this sneaker. However, we have now spotted another unparalleled Air Structure Triax colorway that is now available at Standard for $115.
It features a mostly black leather/mesh base with various purple sections on the swoosh, tongue, inner lining among other places. The toe area owns a brown laser print design that overlaps a black-colored section, while the midfoot area possesses the black laser print design over a brown base. As a nice, complimenting feature, the entire shoe sits atop a white outsole.

Jordan CP3.II China Exclusive
Within the past week, we have shown you this China exclusive Jordan CP3.II, and the majority of you thought it was the best Jordan CP3.II to date. With that said, we have just received additional information on this very limited sneaker.
First off, this particular sneaker will officially hit China retailers on August 3rd, 2009 for 990 Yuan. It will also release at the House of Hoops for $135. As for its design, this Jordan CP3.II draws inspiration from Zhao Yun, a infamous character in Chinese literature. Supposedly, the Chris Paul demonstrates the same characteristics as the aforementioned character such as charisma, fearlessness, intelligence, calmness, invincibility and selflessness. Coinciding with the release of this shoe, Chris Paul himself will be in attendance.

Pharrell Williams x Bape Croc-Skin SpongeBob Bapesta
2009 marks the 10th Anniversary of the cartoon show Spongebob Square pants and it seems Skateboard P- Pharrell Williams teamed up with Bape in production of these custom “Spongebob” Bapesta’s. Pharrell recently posted some mysterious pictures of himself wearing these Spongebob Bapestas on his blog. They have a striking resemblance to the 2008 version that? Bathing Ape released. The sneaker sports a sophisticated yellow most likely real crocodile skin theme replacing the previously seen patent leather upper. It has a white midsole, a gum sole, and a picture of SpongeBob’s face by the heel.
Though not confirmed for a release, if these do ever make it into any kind of production, you can bet they’ll be limited. It takes a unique sense of style to pull off these kicks, think you can rock them?

A Bathing Ape has created this new clean take on the BAPE Skullsta. These shoes differ slightly from the last release of the model with a couple small changes in the details.

Nike Air Max Light ‘Tecmo Bo’
Bo Jackson continues to receive homage from Nike. We have already seen different sneakers inspired by the Tecmo Bo namely Nike Air Trainer 1 – Tecmo Bo Jackson, Nike Blazer High “Tecmo Bo” - Kansas City Royals and Nike Sky Force Hi “Tecmo Bo”. Jordan AJ4 OG Jacket
Not only on top of the sneaker game in 1989 with the Air Jordan 4, Nike created some of the most saught after vintage sportswear pieces. The perfect accessory to Money’s shoes was the matching warm up jacket. With large “Flight� script, it was clear who you were representing.
Jordan Brand has been reaching into the vault for sneakers, but reaches back to bring back this jacket. Though made to match the current run of Air Jordan Fusion 4’s, I am sure many of us have a few pairs of retro Jordan 4’s that would hook well with too. Currently the black jacket is available now at Seattle’s RPS, but keep an eye out other makes made to match all of the other AJ(F) 4’s with a tag price of $110.

Nike Zoom Kobe IV Team
Earlier today, we informed you of the Nike Zoom Kobe IV Black/Metallic Gold-Concord that will release on October 17th, 2009. The comment section contained both positive and negative remarks about that specific colorway. However, team colorways of any sneaker are hard to go against, especially when they appeal to your own team colors. With that said, the RMK Store now has all of the Nike Zoom Kobe IV team colorways in stock.
Isn’t it nice to see the Kobe IV in different colorways than the traditional, Lakers-inspired black/purple-gold or white/purple-gold? Adidas Originals - 5 Individuals
New Zealand retailer Qubic hosted an Adidas Originals party last week, celebrating their ObyO line.
In addition, they asked 5 international sneaker enthusiasts to participate by designing their own pair of an Adidas throwback.
All five came up with something different, drawing inspiration from different sources within their lives, and putting forth their own footwear philosophy. Three different Adidas Originals models were used, with no design coming out similar to another.

Nike Air Max 95 “Comet” + “Slate” for 2010
This year, Nike has undoubtedly blessed us with classic colorways of the infamous Air Max 95. So far, Nike has unleashed the “Neon”, the “Fresh Water”, the “Chili” and the “Safety Orange”. However, if we deem those colorways ‘classic’, the Air Max 95’s that Nike will re-release next summer are nothing less than epic. During the summer of 2010, Nike will retro the Air Max 95 “Comet” and the Air Max 95 “Slate”. If you recall, these sneakers dropped in 2003 and 2005, respectively. Air Force One “Pixel Fade”
Nike Air Force 1 has always been synonymous with simplicity and practicality since you can match it with everything. JGoodsCustom tweak it a bit again. They incorporated blue pixels that fade from the back of the heel to the front that ends in the middle of the shoe. In addition, they made the swoosh and heel pannel gold, making it pop out and giving it a nice contrast. They also made there own custom tongue tag and insole with their very own jgoods logo. They did a great job with the color scheme it looks factory made. I wish Nike will add this in there production, atleast AF1 wont be so plain anymore!

Women’s Nike Blazer Mid Premium Tweed
Nike has been doing some nice releases for the ladies this year but the pair above is an exception. The Nike Blazer Mid Premium features a tweed upper with some highlights of pink. Not a nice combination of materials or colors on a Nike shoe. These will release on December 1st for $100. If your a big fan of tweed or your lady friend is, these will be a nice gift just in time for the holidays.

Puma Lena x Shanghai Tang List
Overkillshop has just received the latest from Puma, the Lena Shanghai Tang List. The Puma Lena is a very popular shoe among the ladies although a limited footwear line. Puma has collaborated with Shanghai Tang, an famous Oriental brand, to transform the Puma Lena into a great exclusive release. The shoe features a very unique look using bright colors and a lot of detail of the Chinese culture that Shanghai Tang wanted to inject. The black suede is combined with satin-like material to create a new look and style. I personally really like the way these turned out. Although it does seem a bit loud, the shoe makes a modern statement and is easy to wear. Check these out now in the limited release.

Air Jordan XVIII
The Air Jordan 18 was released in 2003 and was the shoe for Jordan’s last season (part 3), in which Jordan played for the Washington Wizards.
Creator of the design of the Air Jordan 18 was Tate Kuerbis (Jordan Senior Footwear Designer). A person that had been part of the Jordan footwear design team since 1999 and with Nike since 1995. The inspiration of the design is a combination of a number of things; Sleek racing lines of the auto world, Carbon fiber-based monocoque of F1 race cars, Race car driving shoes (rubber heel wrap) and Fine Italian dress shoes (bold stitching on the soles).

Air Jordan XIX
Released in 2004 and modeled after the black mamba snake, this is the first Jordan release after his third, and final, retirement which came after the 2002-2003 NBA season. Two original colorways where released: white/flint grey and black/red. Three regional colorways and three special edition colorways were released. They consisted of the East, West, and Midwest edition for regular and West, East, and Olympic for the SE (special edition).
The Air Jordan 19 used innovative materials. The upper section of shoe was developed in collaboration with Material ConneXion Inc. from a sleeving normally used in architectural applications for protecting PVC pipes from bursting. In theory, this allowed for a lace-less shoe because the sleeving does not stretch, however the Air Jordan 19 model did include a set of laces behind the sleeve to better secure the shoe.

This revolutionary motorcycle-inspired model celebrated the legacy of Michael Jordan. Equipped with next generation IPS cushion, a spherical shape and a laser etched design representing immortalized symbols of Jordan on its lace strap and interior gave this shoe a unique look and performance. As well as being inspired by motorcycles this design was also in inspired bicycling shoes this is why the strap was placed in the center of the shoe over the laces it also helped to create a tighter fit and increased support.

Prominent Shiite political leader dies in Iran
BAGHDAD — Abdul Aziz al Hakim , the leader of one of Iraq's dominant Shiite Muslim political parties and a renowned cleric who resisted Saddam Hussein's regime for more than 20 years while in exile, died Wednesday in Tehran .
Hakim, 59, was one of the key figures who brought Shiite Muslims to power after Saddam's fall, using the muscle of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq — a party he helped build — to become a prevailing force in Iraqi politics.
His death leaves a vacancy at the top of his party as the country heads into its first national elections since 2005 and as the governing Shiite political alliance shows signs of breaking apart, with Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki separating from Hakim's bloc.
" Sayed al Hakim was a bigger brother and a strong support during the period of fighting the former regime and a fundamental cornerstone in the process of building the new Iraq ," Maliki said. "His departure at this sensitive phase that we are going through is considered a great loss for Iraq ."
Hakim hadn't been seen in public frequently since Iraq's provincial elections in January. His son, Ammar al Hakim , took on some of Hakim's responsibilities as Hakim suffered from lung cancer during the past two years.
He was a well-loved figure in Iraq because of his and his family's efforts to fight Saddam and publicly advocate for Shiite Muslims, a long-oppressed majority under Saddam.
His legacy is mixed, however, because of charges that the Islamic Supreme Council's armed wing, the Badr Organization , participated in the sectarian killings that rocked the country since Saddam's fall.
His reputation also suffered in some quarters because of several high profile visits he had with President George W. Bush , occasions that his rivals, mainly followers of radical cleric Moqtada al Sadr, cited to accuse him of caving to Americans.
Black funeral banners announcing Hakim's death went up in Najaf, a holy city for Shiite Muslims. A ceremony is expected to be held Thursday in Tehran , where he was being treated, followed by a funeral that could draw hundreds of thousands of people to Najaf on Friday.
His family is one of Iraq's preeminent Shiite lines. His father, Grand Ayatollah Muhsin al Hakim, led the Shiite world from 1955 to 1970.
Hakim's death was rare in his family, in that he died of natural causes. Six of his brothers were killed during Saddam's regime.
One brother, the Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Bakir al Hakim, the founder of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq , was killed by a bomb in August 2003 . He'd spent 23 years in exile before returning to Iraq after the American military ousted Saddam.
A prominent member of the Islamic Supreme Council said the party hadn't announced a successor, though a central committee met Wednesday to discuss choosing one.
"In his absence, his followers and others will become aware of the responsibility that he was carrying. They will be aware of the great care he took in order to look after his people and his establishment said Sheik Humam Hammoudi , an Islamic Supreme Council member and member of Iraq's parliament.
Hakim had a hand in founding the Islamic Supreme Council's armed wing, the Badr Organization , while the party was in exile in Iran during Saddam's dictatorship. He also founded two charitable organizations and sought care for Shiite refugees who suffered under Saddam's regime after the Gulf War.
Hakim also was a member of the Iraqi Governing Council , the first Iraqi body that began to lead the country after the American occupation began.
Hakim was "active in bringing down the dictatorship, and after liberation, he worked hard to build a well-organized establishment in order to forward the beliefs and goals of this party," Hammoudi said.
The Islamic Supreme Council is widely viewed as closely aligned with Iran . It is strongest in Iraq's southern provinces and has attempted to have the region designated as a semi-autonomous zone similar to the provinces Kurds govern in Iraq's north.
The Badr Organization was once a feared militia that was believed to have infiltrated several government ministries, but it has reinvented itself as an unarmed humanitarian group.
The party was Iraq's dominant group until this year, when Maliki's Dawa Party ascended on his efforts to be seen as a national leader unconcerned with sectarian divides.
Dawa and the Islamic Supreme Council are allies in parliament, but they have split for January's elections.

Honduras' interim government offers crisis plan
TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – Honduras' interim leader has offered to resign and back exiled President Manuel Zelaya's return home, provided the ousted leader give up his claim to the presidency.
The offer appears to contain little new, other than allowing Zelaya to return without facing arrest.
A representative of interim President Roberto Micheletti says Congress would still have to approve an amnesty for Zelaya, who was ousted in a June 28 coup.
Arturo Corrales said Thursday the deal was presented to a delegation from the Organization of American States on Tuesday.
Under the proposal, whoever is next in line of succession under the Constitution would assume the presidency.
Corrales said the delegation had not responded to the offer.
